front pages

1)My favorite new page would be the newspaper from Albany, New York because I like the bold logo at the top. Its a type of art that I find appealing.
2) The head line. "right size and place", because it pops out of the paper with a different color than the rest of the font. and plus the science section sound a little interesting.
3) Albany has 14 stories on the front.
4) There seems to be two big photos that carry a large story behind it. Usually at the bottom of the newspaper the rest of the story is followed on different page. At times there is a little photo along with the bigger pictures.
5) Different news papers carry different fonts and styles. Some news papers have logos or photos of important people in the header. Some newspapers just have letters or fonts. News papers in different countries such as Europe have vivid art on the front page and, Asian countries seem as if the have more words or stories than American newspapers.

Lenses and Photography Vocabularry

- I would use a telephoto lens to zoom in on my objects by far.
- I would use a prime lens to capture objects in dark lighting.
- I would use a wide angle lens to capture landscaping photos. To capture a lot of outside detail.

Depth of Field (Shallow/Wide): Including objects in the background, foreground, and middle ground. This rule can make a photo better because it can cause the human eye to overlap layers.

Light (Angle/Intensity): Adjusting the amount of light entering the camera. This can cause patterns in shadows and expose details.

Shadows: Shadows add a pattern and 3-D depth. This rule is a sort of an effect that makes things seem 3-D.

Diffusion: Adjustments to lighting. Creating a dusk look to your photo.

Exposure: The intensity of the lighting. This rule can make photos better by exposing details by light adjustments.

Aperture: The light that comes in through a hole in a camera. Can alter your focusing field.

Shutter Speed: Elapsed time of light entering the camera. Can create a flowing and or sharp picture of moving objects.

ISO: The camera's sensitivity to light. Adjusting ISO to the environment your in can create a great picture.

Finalist
Sports Illustrated, Winter 2011: "Swimsuit 2011"
(Photograph by Bjorn Iooss)
Landing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition makes supermodels into pop culture icons. Such was the case this year for Irina Shayk, a Russian beauty whose bronze skin and green eyes have made her a Swimsuit regular since 2007. Credit must also be given to photographer Bjorn Iooss, who snapped the cover photo with the first-ever Sports Illustrated shoot. Iooss' cover shot came one year after his father, Walter Jr., snapped his eleventh Swimsuit cover.

Magazine Tips

  2. Does it pop among other magazines.
  3. Does it grab peoples attention on the magazine shelfs.
  4. If the cover pops from the background keep it.
  5. Experiment as much as possible to see what its capabilities are.
